Company History

Plitt Crane & Equipment, Inc.

Trusted Machinery Moving & Rigging Company Since 1952

In 1952, with one crane, a forklift, a pipe for rollers, and a three-man crew, Walter E. Plitt, Jr. started the family tradition of providing first-class services to South Texas and Northern Mexico. It has been a family business ever since. Sixty-five years and four generations later, we still provide excellent crane, rigging, millwright, and mechanical services to South Texas, Monterrey, Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa, Rio Bravo, Valle Hermoso, and Matamoros, Mexico.

In addition to rigging and millwright expertise, we offer fabrication, overhead crane assembly, and certified electricians and welders. We are also the leading NAFTA plant moving and rigging service in South Texas and Northern Mexico. Over the years, we have met the challenge of placing fragile machinery in almost impossible situations. We have handled, placed, assembled, set, and leveled “run lines” and “drops” on virtually every machine type and size. For example, when the Historic Brownsville Museum sent out their “one of a kind” train engine for renovation, they called Plitt.

We are proud of our accomplishments and are safety-wise - never having lost a customer due to an incompetent act. O.S.H.A. has never cited us, and our International Insurance includes 2 million dollar General Liability with “Care Custody” and “Hook” coverage. Our employees are enthusiastic and work well with customers’ employees and/or under customer’s supervision, as part of a team effort. The pride we take in completing tasks safely at a quick and steady pace is only possible with our experienced working supervisors and crewmen.

Specializing in such moves with exact precision has allowed us to perform most plant moves in our area. We depend on repeat business and referrals from old and valued customers for our company's future and betterment. Finally, we hope that we will have the opportunity to be of service to you shortly.
